Description
Of characteristic form, the grip carved of exotic hardwood with silver ferrule and braided silver mounts and broad, crested pommel. The fine, handforged, pattern-welded, single-edged blade retains its sharp edge. In its wooden scabbard with profiled opening and tip, and a panel carved with the Islamic profession of faith, or Shahada. Latter 19th century. Deaccessioned from the John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum, originally acquired October, 1947. Overall length 53.5cm. Condition II
