Description
Of classic form, exhibiting the considerable skill of Maranao bronze-workers. Strongly influenced by the burgonet worn by the Spanish in the 16th century, with domed skull, graceful, pronounced comb, peak and neckguard, with pierced motifs throughout. With hinged ear plates and pierced plume holder. First half of the 19th century or earlier. Minor wear and abrasions, one ear plate well-restored. Ex- Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester, MA. Overall height 22cm. Condition II
