Description
In its gold-tooled case with Argentine banner, the miniature sword with finely-detailed grips and mounts representing that of Jose de San Martin (1778-1850,) noted Argentine leader in the struggle for South American independence. Swords of this type, which duplicate the Ottoman saber he carried in battle, were presented as military honors. First half of the 20th century. Light wear. Overall length 20.6cm. Condition II
