Description
The select tiger-striped hardwood stock of characteristic form, elaborately inlaid with engraved silver appliques in baroque motifs overall. The miquelet lock with profiling struck with a maker’s mark, the heavy octagonal barrel with ogival peepsight, and forged of actively pattern-welded damascus steel and finely inlaid with gold at the breech and muzzle, retained to the stock by a series of silver bands. Brass buttpiece and band to butt. Mid-18th century. Minor wear, chips to butt. Overall length 113.5cm. Condition II
