Mughal work, a robust massive example with grips of jade and gold inlaid tangbands and bolster, with silver toggle intact. The elegant, recurved blade with T-back forged of superior highly-contrasted Persian Kara Taban black wootz with random double steps. In its silk-covered wooden scabbard with gilded and profiled mounts. Early 18th century. Stable crack to grips. Overall length 41.2cm. Condition III
