Description
French or British, dating to the period of Muhammad Ali’s rise in Egypt. The silvered hilt closely modeled on the distinctive Sudanese dagger; with flared guard and flattened cylindrical pommel embellished with engraving, and curved, double-edged blade with rectangular forte and raised central ridge. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with en suite engraved and silvered mounts. First quarter of the 19th century. Blade with areas of pitting, velvet rubbed. Overall length 41.5cm. Condition III
