Description
Of al-Busaidi form, unique to the Sultanate of Oman. The grip of rare, fibrous horn with flared pommel and elaborately filigreed gold mounts. The exceptionally well-wrought, curved, double-edged blade with central rib retaining much original edge. The felt-covered wooden scabbard with heavy massive finely filigreed gold mounts en suite with the hilt and set with seven rings, five in gold and two in silver, bound with gold wire. All gold parts have been tested and show gold content above 21 karats. In its locking oak presentation case lined with velvet. Late 19th century. The later case with some restoration. Overall length 28cm. Condition II
