Description
A quality set, comprising a sallet helmet of characteristic German form, the domed skull retaining its liner, with and flared rim, steel studded border and roped edge, and a brigandine armor, padded and faced with green and red wool and geometrically stitched and studded overall. Edged with scalloped leather and secured by eight profiled brass buckles, the arms, which terminate in mittens, and upper legs protected by densely-studded leather overall. The shoulders covered with leather flaps, likewise studded. Late 19th century. Wear to both pieces, brigandine with minor losses, one strap lacking. Height of brigandine 85cm. Condition III
