Description
From the Bicol region, the reddish hardwood grip terminating in a fully-modelled bat’s head, the grip with spiral carving, elaborately embellished with silver. The wrought iron guard with disk guard, drooping quillon and knucklebow. The thick, robust blade with characteristic choil, deeply bellied at the tip, with incised decoration at the spine and forging delaminations evident. Latter 19th century. Worn. Overall length 66cm. Condition III
