Description
A superior example, an Edo-era samurai mail armor comprising a helmet and coat, composed of blackened steel rings interspersed with narrow vertical bands of brass rings throughout. The coat with high collar and full sleeves terminating in gauntlets, padded and lined with cotton and edged with stamped hide, and the helmet, likewise composed of black steel rings interspersed with bands of brass rings and completely padded and lined in cotton, and bordered with stamped hide. Providing excellent, portable and concealable protection for a swordsman. Latter 17th century. Minor areas of rusting and wear to the lining. Overall length of coat from nape to hem 79cm.
