Description
Of characteristic form, the polished horn grips with large, rolled pommel, with engraved silver guard and silver wire grip wrap to base. The curved, single-edged heirloom blade wrought of fine, actively-patterned Persian black wootz and inscribed, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET in a gold cartouche, together with the date 1115 (1703/4.) In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, well-engraved silver mounts. Late18th-early 19th century. Minor wear to scabbard. Overall length 93.5cm. Condition II
