German, with well-wrought steel hilt of characteristic form, with pierced plate set into the guard. The long, double-edged blade of lenticular section, struck with the king’s head mark of renowned maker Mathias Wundes of Solingen. Mid 17th century. Acid washed, areas of corrosion to hilt and blade. Overall length 91cm. Condition III
