Description
A fine private purchase weapon. The hilt with well-wrought steel guard and backstrap and elephant grip set with gilt floral studs. Fitted with what appears to be an Ottoman trophy blade, with dramatic gold vinework to either side of the forte, and exhibiting traces of damascus patterning. In its steel scabbard with integral profiled suspension bands. Late 18th- early 19th century. Worn overall, losses and crack to grips, scabbard with darkening. Overall length 89cm. Condition IV
