Description
A large example of characteristic form, the wooden core with semicircular fluted iron cover set with suspension rings and overlaid with a finely-pierced iron plaque depicting a group of armored knights passing through a gate on horseback with a pair of infantrymen cheering and waving their hats at one side, all finely embossed and engraved in relief. With elaborately fluted and chiseled spout and cutoff intact. Beginning of the 17th century. Minor wear. Overall height 27cm. Condition II
