Description
Likely German, the guard finely wrought in four elaborate rings, each composed of five bars and enclosing an oval plate pierced with five, five-pointed stars, symbolizing the five sections of the rosary. The oval pommel faceted, the grip retains its fine wire grip wrap and turkshead knots. The long, double-edged blade with short central fuller marked with the Passau running wolf on each side. Late 16th-early 17th century. Well worn, minor dent to guard plate, tip rounded. Overall length 115cm. Condition III
