A private purchase example off characteristic “Mameluke” form, the elephant grips with rolled pommel and elaborately-embellished gilt-bronze guard, the well-wrought blade etched with foliate panels and the VR cypher. In its steel scabbard mounted en suite with the hilt. Second quarter of the 19th century. Losses to grips, scabbard rusted. Overall length 91.5cm. Condition IV
