Description
The work of a master, the shashka-form grip carved of a single large section of shirmani. The straight, double-edged blade with fine twistcore damascus panel in the central fuller and extensive gold inlay to the forte at either side. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, elaborately engraved and nielloed mounts; the locket reverse inscribed, WORK OF VALEK SHARFAR (?) and 1335 (1916/17) Dated 1916/17 and KAVKAZ (Caucasus.) Signature partially defaced, minor wear to leather. Overall length 56.2cm. Condition II
