Description
A large example, the grip with expanded and profiled pommel with an elephant scale on one side and a panel of actively-grained agate on the other, set with gilded bosses, the silver gilt tangband and bolsters engraved. The long, thick blade of very shallow curvature, wrought of fine black Persian wootz with a raised central ridge and terminating in an armor-piercing tip. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large pierced and engraved silver mounts. 17th-18th century. Minor wear, velvet rubbed, scabbard tip lacking. Overall length 45.7cm. Condition III
