Description
Very well wrought pieces of armor, likely German. The gorget with central ridge and embossed borders with rolled and roped edges, and set with numerous brass studs, with its en suite pair of gauntlets, the pointed cuffs likewise embossed, with rolled and roped edges and brass studs. The backs of the hands well-articulated with profiled lamellae and brass studs, with roped knuckle bars and fingers composed of bifurcated scales. Made without thumbs. Mid-17th century. Overall wear, the fingers releathered. Width of gorget 28cm. Condition III
