Description
Qajar Dynasty work, comprising a helmet of classic form with etched vegetal and vinework motifs overall, and inlaid spike finial, plume holders and captured nasal, the rim with chiseled Qur’anic passages inlaid in silver. The shield decorated en suite with the helmet, with four inlaid central bosses and applied brass rim, the rim with chiseled Qur’anic passages inlaid in silver and showing evidence of wootz forging. 19th century. Camail lacking. Shield diameter 46.8cm.
