Description
A well-made suit, highly decorated. Handwrought of steel, the helmet with separate visor, with rolled borders throughout, arm and leg assemblies, gauntlets and sabatons well-proportioned and modeled. Covered with etched flowering vine motifs. Wooden stand included. Late 19th century. From the famous atelier of Ernst Schmidt, Munich, and pictured in Arms & Armor from the Atelier of Ernst Schmidt, Munich (1967: Providence. Mowbray) p. 33, plate 12. Height 183cm.
