Description
A seldom-encountered form, made for use with a single hand. The well-carved hardwood hilt made with rare lobed pommel carved with okir decoration. The grip and guard with robust rattan binding and woven cord munsala. The handwrought blade showing layered forging, the expanded tip with scalloped and pierced spine. Retains its two-piece hardwood scabbard. Late 19th century. Minor wear, scabbard with remains of later adhesive, blade with areas of shallow pitting. Overall length 91.5cm. Condition III
