Description
The skull wrought in one piece with pronounced central ridge, the occipital section composed of overlapping lames, a technique peculiar to Italian armorers. The bellows visor with oblique ocularia and breaths in the form of slots and crosses, secured to the bevor by a sprung button. The bevor with well-modeled chin, locking to the skull by a sprung catch, and sharing a common pivot with the visor as is typical. The gorget composed of two broad lames with turned and roped edges. Retains its original plumeholder. Second half of the 16th century. Areas of light pitting, bevor possibly restored, minor interior repair to visor. Height 26cm. Condition III
