Description
A type associated with the Siege of Vienna in 1683, due to the numbers which were found in the abandoned Ottoman camp following the rout by King Jan Sobieski. The shirmani grip of characteristic form, biased toward to wearer’s body in order to avoid snagging in battle. The curved single-edged blade with central ridge wrought of wootz steel. In its embossed silver scabbard with profiled and gilt locket. Latter 17th century. Well worn, minor areas areas of pitting to blade. Overall length 40cm. Condition III
