Description
The complex hilt finely forged of oval section bars with tapered cylindrical pommel, the spirally carved wooden grip with original wire wrap and turkshead knots intact. The exceptionally long, double-edged blade of diamond section, forged with a rectangular forte deeply struck with a German maker’s mark on each side. First quarter of the 17th century. Minor pitting to blade. Overall length 119.5cm. Condition III
