Description
With elegant openwork guard engraved at the base with birds amongst foliage, the quillons and knucklebow terminating in large domed finials, the knucklebow double-beaded to the center, the pommel chiseled with foliage overall. The grip with original copper wire wrap and turkshead knots intact. The long, narrow blade of hexagonal section with short, well-cut fullers struck IN SOLINGEN on each side. First quarter of the 17th century. Guard slightly loose, light pitting to hilt, tip with some corrosion. Overall length 110cm. Condition III
