Description
Made in Crete and likely named for the village in Heraklion. Mounted in nielloed silver, with eared grips. The straight, single-edged handwrought blade with characteristic belly and slightly upturned tip and etched panel with the date, 1301 (1883/4.) The velvet-covered scabbard with silver mounts engraved and nielloed en suite with the grip. Dated 1883/4. Minor wear to blade. Overall length 23.3cm. Condition III
