Description
Wrought entirely of silver in baroque style, the silver handles finely wrought with architectural elements, terminating in stylized eagle’s heads, evoking the double-headed eagle symbol of Byzantium. The fork and knife of steel, well finished. In their scabbard wrought entirely of silver and embossed and engraved with characteristic vinework heightened with niello, and a concealed inscription in Greek written in reverse, thus requiring a mirror to read, AGOURAS Y(EAR) 1793.
