Description
Of classic form, custom made for an officer, with steel stirrup hilt superbly wrought and profiled throughout, and fine horn grip retaining its twisted wire wrap. The lightly curved, single-edged blade with hatchet tip and broad fuller, finely etched with stands of arms amongst foliate panels struck with a crowned 4 at the right forte, and OSBORNE & GUNBY at the base of the spine. Late 18th-early 19th century. Lightly pitted overall, minor wear to grip. Overall length 95cm. Condition IV
