Description
A massive example, with faceted and engraved scent-bottle form steel pommel and twisted brass wire-wrapped wooden grip, the robust steel guard engraved en suite and recurved, the profiled ring guard ecusson likewise engraved and filled with a pierce plate, opposite a profiled thumbring. The massive, lenticular-section blade tapering toward the tip and struck at each forte with maker’s marks, A A (?) Mid-late 16th century. Minor wear. Overall length 109.5cm. Condition II
