Description
A rare dagger, made for Mamelukes of the Imperial Guard, modeled on the Ottoman hancer dirk. The elephant grip of characteristic waisted form. The pommel cap and ferrule of brass with traces of gilding, the curved, double-edged blade with central ridge tapering acutely to the tip. In its brass scabbard with in Ottoman baroque-inspired rococo finial. Beginning of the 19th century. Overall 44cm. Condition III
