A hussar-type saber commonly associated with the Pandours under von Trenck. With robust brass stirrup guard with ergonomic grip and pronounced langets, the lightly-curved blade with broad central fuller. In its original leather scabbard with brass mounts. Mid-18th century. Worn overall, grip wires lacking. For quite similar see Wagner, E, CUT & THRUST WEAPONS, 1969, Hamlyn, 405, pl. 35. Overall length 93cm. Condition III
