Description
An earlier example of a rare type, the obverse grip of green-dyed antler, the reverse of horn, wrapped with gilt braid and set with engraved and nielloed silver bosses. The well-wrought, parallel-edged blade with offset fuller and tapering point, signed KALB [ALI]. The wooden scabbard covered in finely engraved and nielloed silver in characteristic Circassian motifs. Beginning of the 19th century. Wear to the reverse. Overall length 48.8cm. Condition II
