Of a quality seldom encountered, the grips of polished shirmani with steel pommel, the wootz guard finely inlaid in gold. The long, broad blade wrought of fine, actively-grained Persian black wootz and inscribed in gold in two cartouches at the right forte, VICTORY FROM GOD AND CONQUEST NIGH!, and WORK OF ALI REZA. In its finely embossed leather-covered wooden scabbard with en suite wootz steel suspension bands with gold borders and silver locket and chape. Mid-18th century. Overall length 95cm. Condition II
