Likely Italian work, the skull well-wrought, with characteristic high comb, and peaked visor and neck guard. The large earpieces inletted at the upper edge to suit the visor, the whole embellished with engraved borders. Late 16th century. Corroded overall. Ex-Bonhams, Nov 30, 2006 sale, lot 225.
