Description
Of characteristic form, the polished horn grips with large, rolled pommel and silver tangband, with engraved and gilded guard. The massive, curved, single-edged Persian heirloom blade wrought in a fine, black wootz ladder pattern and inscribed in two chiseled cartouches, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET and WORK OF KALB ALI, surrounded by fine goldwork in a flowering lattice pattern. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large, well-engraved silver mounts. Late18th century. Minor wear, velvet possibly refreshed, adhesive under guard. Overall length 92.6cm. Condition II
