Description
An example of rare quality, the hilt and scabbard wrought entirely of silver, finely embossed and engraved throughout in bands of foliage between complex panels, with a large fish, perhaps a whale, at the tip. The single-edged, well-forged steel blade with rare profiled tip. In its fitted wooden case with brass hardware. 19th-20th century. Text on interior of lid effaced, minor staining. Overall length of sword 87cm. Condition I
