Description
Endemic to the Murut peoples, the carved wooden hilt with characteristic bifurcate pommel retaining its original woven wicker covering, and lengthy brass ferrule terminating in a circular guard with profiled edges. The long, curved blade of flattened wedge section with fullers and radiused tip. In its wooden scabbard with incised panels and brass and steel mounts. First half of the 19th century. Worn overall. Overall length 92.5cm. Condition III
