Description
Of classic form, the iconic hilt finely wrought, the wheel pommel with characteristic flanged, profiled base, the two-handed wooden grip covered in tooled leather, and the guard with integral ferrule and downturned quillons with quatrefoil terminals and long, rectangular langets. The massive blade straight and double-edged with distinct central ridge and irregular waved edges. 16th century or later. Worn overall, one terminal lacking a small section, blade with later toolmarks and areas of old paint, edges possibly reground in its working life. Overall length 131cm. Condition IV
