Description
Mounted with a very rare Imperial Russian blade, long, curved and fullered, and struck at the forte in Russian, ZLATOUST 1879, together with a number of control marks. The characteristic cast casein hilt, the pommel set with a large engraved boss, likely the property of a Ras or noble. Latter 19th century. Blade possibly a Dragoon M 1841. Dating the shortlived period of Imperial Russian colonial aspirations in East Africa. Overall length 96.5cm. Minor wear overall. Condition III
