Description
An early and seldom encountered type, the carved horn grips of a form transitional between the karabela and later spherical pommel, set with filigreed silver bosses, the silvered bronze guard with central ridges and spatulate quillon terminals. The long, well-wrought blade with incipient yelman and incised symmetrical cartouche at the right forte and showing faint evidence of wootz forging. 17th-18th century. As found.
