Description
Composed of an embellished helmet and shield, etched with scenes from Persian mythology with a broad band of calligraphy surrounding the lower edge, retaining gold highlights. The helmet of characteristic hemispherical form with top spike and adjustable nasal bar, plume tubes and camail lacking. The circular steel shield elaborately etched en suite with the helmet and set with four bosses with scalloped borders and a brass rim. 19th century. Minor losses to mail. Diameter of shield 47cm. Condition IV STAND NOT INCLUDED
