A type found in the Transcaucasus and northern Iran, its design suggests it was used in place of the saber, probably for close fighting by infantrymen. With a large, kindjal-type horn grip with iron mounts pinning Persian silver coins, the blade straight, single-edged, and multifullered, with a long, acutely-pointed tip and bright finish. Struck at the right forte with a maker’s mark. Mid-19th century. Worn. Overall length 74.3cm. Condition III
