Description
A very rare blade showing a fine quality of workmanship. Broad, and of shallow curvature with a distinct yelman, wrought of actively-grained Persian wootz steel and inlaid at either side of the forte with a true-inlaid ogival decoration terminating in Timurid trefoil, and a fine panel of clouds (symbolizing paradise) at the right. Of relatively thick section and retaining some original sharpness. The tang struck with numerous Islamic makers marks. First half of the 16th century. Faint evidence of repaired break to center of blade. Condition III
