Description
A rare type, Zand Dynasty, the polished antler grips with characteristic iron pommel and steel guard with gold borders showing traces of wootz pattern. The fine, long, broad blade of shallow curvature with a broad and narrow fuller and distinct back edge to each side, forged of fine Persian wootz, and inscribed with a chiseled and inlaid cartouche at the right forte, reading, O Judge of Needs! In its embossed leather-covered scabbard with iron mounts. Latter 18th century. Leather worn. Overall length 96.5cm. Condition II
