Zand Dynasty, the polished elephant grips with characteristic iron pommel and finely pierced steel guard. The fine, long blade of deep curvature forged of superb actively-grained and highly-contrasted Persian wootz and inscribed with a gold-inlaid cartouche at the left forte reading, SHAH ABBAS SERVANT OF THE RULER OF THE LAND. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with engraved silver mounts. Mid-18th century. Leather worn. Overall length 92cm. Condition II
