Description
A rare example, the fine antler grips with peaked pommel, and steel pommel, the guard with extended quillons. The fine, long, broad blade of moderate curvature with a broad and narrow fuller and distinct back edge to each side, forged of fine Persian wootz, and inscribed with a pair of cartouches at the left forte, the upper reading, O JUDGE OF NEEDS, the lower chiseled with the famous lion-symbol of Assad Allah and inscribed ALLAH. The right forte with a long chiseled calligraphy panel terminating in a small polygonal cartouche containing a bird. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with en suite steel suspension bands. Minor pitting to blade. Overall length 97cm. Condition III
