Description
Aceh work, an exceptionally fine and large example carved of hardwood and lacquered black, the mounts wrought entirely of wrought brass, displaying a large eight-pointed central boss with trefoil terminals at the center, surrounded by eight applied flower heads and an elaborately profiled and pierced border, likewise with trefoil terminals. The reverse with recessed center with six reinforcing plates around the periphery. Mid-19th century. Rubbed, minor dents, grips lacking. Diameter 42cm. Condition III
