Description
A very rare early, dated example. The grips with characteristic profiled pommel, the obverse of elephant, the reverse of horn with engraved and nielloed silver bosses and beaded tangband. The broad, parallel-edged blade with acutely tapered point, forged with a single offset fuller to either side. The scabbard wrought entirely of silver with fine and unusual engraved and nielloed mounts decorated in characteristic Daghestan motifs. The reverse engraved and nielloed YEAR 1277 (1860 c.e.) together with a panel depicting a miquelet pistol and dagger together with a winged dragon. Dated 1860 c.e.. Minor wear. Overall length 64.5 cm. Condition II
