Description
The akinakes was made famous by the nomadic Scythians, adopted by the Persians and ultimately, the Greeks. Handwrought of iron with expanded guard and early T-type pommel, with straight, tapering double blade. 5th-3rd century b.c.e. Excavated. Overall length 26.5cm. Alexander the Great defeated the Scythians (or Saccae) at the Battle of Jaxartes in 329 b.c.e. Condition V
